It always amazes me how fast two weeks can fly by. It’s been two weeks already since we last checked in with our Working for Wellness team, and there is some nice progress to report. I think it’s been over two months now since we started tracking our progress, and it seems like a lot of the changes in diet and exercise have gotten closer to becoming permanent for many of us. For me, I have a new, well-defined goal to work towards.
We set a record! Nearly 30 comments in one weekend from people hoping to win a sample pack of Spiru-Tein protein powder. Thank you for your enthusiasm and participation in our latest blog giveaway. It was another smashing success. Now I know most of you probably just want to find out if you won, but if I told you now you’d miss out on the suspense.
Protein powder and protein shakes are no longer just for bodybuilders and exercise gurus. People of all ages and backgrounds are discovering the benefits of being able to easily supplement their diets with a healthy boost of protein. The only problem is that there are so many protein powders out there to choose from and they come in a wide variety of flavors. Plus there’s soy protein, whey protein, rice protein and even pea protein. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could try a few out...for free?
It’s been two weeks since our last check-in with the Working for Wellness Team. I think it’s been 7 weeks now since we started this project/experiment, but it seems like just last week that I gathered reports from our crew for the first Working for Wellness post. As you’ll see, most of us have progressed nicely and are sticking to our plans. Find out who has lost a whopping 18 pounds since the beginning of this adventure!
How do you determine if you’re eating genetically modified (GM) food? The answer is you probably don’t even try, because the United States has yet to enact any regulations requiring foods that are genetically modified to be labeled as such. Some estimate that nearly 70% of all grocery store products contain one or more GM ingredients, but are these man-made foods healthy? A growing body of evidence is leaning towards no.
It takes approximately 21 days to learn a new habit. There are 31 days in January. Math wasn’t my best subject in school, but even I know that the healthy life-style changes made by the Working for Wellness team should be second nature by now! I would like to commend my teammates for making the commitment to Working for Wellness and for sticking with it. It’s not always easy to make changes, but when you make the right ones, they are totally worth it.

As a team, we are making some healthy changes together. Today, we made progress with our treat table. Typically, you can find cookies or a party mix on the table, but this morning we have fruit. I have to admit to a guilty pleasure: I love listening to the late night/early morning AM radio show “Coast to Coast AM.” Because it airs so late (midnight here), I don’t get many opportunities to listen to the show, which covers fantastical topics like government conspiracies, ghost stories, technology and even aliens. There is one time a year I’m guaranteed to get a listen—New Year’s Eve. It’s a good night to catch, too, because each year they open the phone lines for listeners to call in their predictions for the upcoming year.
With the first decade of the 21st Century behind us, we are primed for drafting momentous New Year’s resolutions for 2010. This is not the year for some generic resolution that is easily abandoned by mid-January; it is the year for truly life-changing commitments. For me, and six of my co-workers, this means making the resolution to “Work for Wellness.” Essentially, we are incorporating working on our own wellness with our work of bringing wellness to the world at Swanson Health Products.
