A long time Swanson Health Products customer and product reviewer, Darlene Roy, is featured in our latest Customer Spotlight. Darlene, along with her significant other Tim, lives in New England with their two Rottweiler dogs. Darlene is a self-proclaimed vitamin junkie. After seeing family members struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, Darlene wanted to live a more natural life and has turned to supplements to help support her health.
Along with trying to eat sensibly and walking one to five miles every day, Darlene also incorporates supplements into her diet and wellness program. She takes so many supplements that she rotates them so she’s not taking dozens of pills every day! She starts with a multivitamin and mineral. She takes supplements for lung and respiratory health, primrose oil, black cohosh, vitamin D, krill oil, melatonin, colon cleanser drink, chlorella and spirulina just to name a few! Darlene says the vitamins and supplements she takes keep her going through her day and allow her to sleep well at night.
One supplement Darlene always has in her cupboard is melatonin. It’s the only thing that helps her sleep. She’s been turning to melatonin for years to help her have a restful night. Darlene says it seems take more and more melatonin over time to work.
Darlene has shared her knowledge of vitamins and supplements with others. Along with multis for a basic regimen, she says she often offers specific advice to people. She recommends omegas for dry eyes, primrose oil for menopause and chlorella and psyllium for bowel movements. She also supports her Rottweilers’ health with supplements. Along with high quality kibble, her year-old female rottie and 11-month-old male rottie each get chlorella and spirulina daily and they just love it. The male pup also gets glucosamine for his growing bones. Darlene says he’s a BIG BOY with big bones to go along with his big appetite and big jowels!
Along with eating organic, Darlene has also moved away from using synthetic products and opts for natural every time. She now uses organic hair care, skin care and other natural beauty products. Darlene’s next goal is to find time to start a garden so she has access to more organic and healthy foods. She does wonder if her dogs will enjoy the garden!
