When I asked last week to hear your favorite Christmas memories, I expected short comments of maybe a line or two...just long enough to post something to get a chance at winning a free cookbook. Most of you, though, surprised me with heartfelt stories of childhood memories. It was a delight to read them all, and I hope more of you decide to share what you remember most fondly from past Christmas seasons.
Your stories helped remind me of more of my own memories that I had overlooked or just plain forgotten. So instead of just listing off the names of our winners, I thought it’d be worth sharing their stories again so that we can all reminisce a bit more. With the help of random.org, here are our 10 Swanson Health Products Cookbook winners and the memories they shared with us:

My favorite Christmas memories are of the huge family dinners my mother would prepare. Her holiday tables put Martha Stewart to shame. Everything was homemade. The dinner rolls were my favorite. She used the same sweet dough to make cinnamon and caramel rolls for breakfast that day. After dinner and opening gifts, we all gathered at the dining room table to play Aggravation and Yahtzee. Those were the good old days! :)

My favorite memories are from our Pre-Christmas gatherings with the family. Everyone would make a different dessert, candy, bread, etc. of some sort, and we would taste all of the different recipes all night and just mingle. Doesn't get any better than that!!

Merry Christmas all the way!!! If you want a Happy Holiday, get your own day... this is Christmas:) Our Christmas... celebrating something bigger then all us, and we've been doing it for a LONG time:)... Lets just stop quarreling like children... if you dont like the Christmas name, go get yourself a Holiday on one of the other 31 days in December. lol:) but dont try and take Christmas away from the rest of us. So Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! lol:D Love and Cheer to all! (Even the "happy holidayer's") and God bless:D

Hi, I teach an ESL class in the Twin Cities. I have students from all over the world learning English as well as American culture. We're doing a unit on cooking right now. I would love a cookbook to use for examples. Thanks for your (random) consideration. Paul

My most favorite Christmas memory has to be the year I was recovering from my last chemo treatment when I was 27. I lived in a big apt (huge by NYC standards) and a close friend offered to host a Christmas Day dinner, provided I agreed to an open holiday house for anyone who had no family and no place to go. He said he would take care of everything from start to finish. My only responsibility was being well rested so that I could participate by being at the head of the table for Christmas Dinner... Christmas memories for me are lots of snow, warm fire and after dinner, sitting in the living room while my Aunt would play the guitar and we would all sing Christmas carols. Some of the best times in my life.

Christmas was not a very good time for me as a kid, but those days are LONG gone. The greatest holidays of all started back in the '70s, when I got married, then had kids, and now have grandkids...each year gets better and better! And the excitement for all of us is well before, and after the holiday season. Even throughout the year, a family member will mention about the holidays, the fun they had, the memories, and the love that we all shared. My wife makes all of her "special" treats, we fill the tree with all of the homemade decorations that the kids made when they were small, and we all wait patiently for the "big" day, the day that we all get together and celebrate the holidays, each other, and the best memories that life can offer. Happy Holiday!

My fondest memories of Christmas is that all our families including relative got together to share Christmas together. Jesus Christ is the real reason for the season & that is more wonderful than anything I know!

Being a diabetic, I usually have to avoid a lot of the holiday treats this time a year. After doing some Internet research I found a nutritionist by the name of Rose Cole who has great SUGAR-FREE Recipes that are soooooo delicious. Now I can prep my own goodies and bring them along to dinner parties and know that I can dig in with everyone else! Her site is http://www.RoseCole.com/HolidayCookbook
