This is the story of two people, one man and one woman, who decided to add some excitement (and maybe a little bit of stress) to their lives by teaming up and taking on an extreme adventure race through the wilderness of Wisconsin. I am thrilled to be able to present to you the Swanson Vitamins version of “The Amazing Race.” Buckle up…it’s going to be an awesome ride!
Let me introduce our two competitors:
Out of the blue corner standing at five feet, four inches tall, we have the master of customer account management at Swanson for the past 14 years...NADINE.
Not a total rookie to racing, Nadine recently completed the half marathon at the wildly popular Fargo Marathon. Grandma’s got nothing on Fargo. Nadine often refers to herself as an up-and-coming American Gladiator. Training for this adventure race will surely help her dominate the Eliminator. As for her Gladiator name…we’re thinking either Chlorella or Shark Oil.
Ok, so maybe we won’t be seeing Nadine on the season premiere of American Gladiators, but her real wildest, yet reachable, goal is to compete in the 50k North Face Challenge. The only difference I see between the two is the sweet costumes.
Out of the red corner standing five feet, ten inches tall, we have the manager of our customer care department, Rex. Working at Swanson for nearly six years, Rex completes the deadly duo that is “Team Swanson!”
Rex joined forces with Nadine for several reasons, all of which are the right reasons to undertake such a challenge. He’s been sitting behind a desk for years now, be it the work desk here at Swanson or the student’s desk as he works towards his Master’s degree. The lifestyle of the desk-jockey is not conducive to peak physical fitness.
So Rex is working his tail off not only to create the strongest competitive force ever to come out of the corporate headquarters, but also to really improve his overall health. He’s taking the long-term view with his training regimen, another “right” thing to do when working towards real, lasting improvement.
I’m looking forward to reading about the diet and training regimens Rex is using, including a so-called “Warrior Diet” and a supplementation program using Swanson products. (I may steal some of his methods, as I’ve noticed the pounds pack on around my own midsection since trading in my gym lock for an ergonomically correct wrist pad for typing…ugh!).
So look for weekly updates by both Rex and Nadine here at the Swanson Blog. The first one is coming up this Friday. Stay tuned…and who knows, maybe you’ll learn something about yourself as we follow the training and challenges of “Team Swanson.”
